Bryn looked back to find Haine standing behind her, and her face grew hot. At that moment, she was glad it was too dark to see her flush. God she must look pathetic, drinking alone and talking to herself.
"Yeahwell..." Bryn paused and then breathed heavily. "How much did you hear?"
Her head felt light and heavy all at once, and she shook it slightly before deciding that it might be best to set the bottle and glass down on the deck floor for a moment.
"Right." Bryn looked down and shrugged. "What can I say. My parents were shitheads and my brother a spineless bastard." She had meant every word of that toast, it just hadn't been her intention to have it overheard.
Her fingers trembled a bit as she ran them through her hair. She looked up again. "I should have my head examined for being happy to be on this boat instead of in Florida..."
She walked forward, somewhat unsteadily, and nodded to his arm. "That thing healing any better yet?"

He chose not approach the woman with the bottle of alcohol.
