It had been a nice night up until that broadcast. Remy ran his hand through his hair as he unlocked the door. He wanted to cuddle with Vanyel and...and well it looked like Vanyel needed a cuddle.
He'd heard Ironhide mouth off on the torture scene and Van's request for him to stop and it made his blood boil. He wanted to kill that fucking robot and he was blaming him for Van's current mood.
Remy rushed to his lover's side and took him into his arms. "What's wrong?"
Van knew how he looked, staring stupidly at the wall and the comm, with his arms wrapped around himself. He hadn't cared, until Remy had spoken, not enough to control himself, but the sound and warm presence brought him out of himself. He'd been worrying at the place Yfandes' voice had once come from again, like a missing tooth, and hadn't been thinking.
Of course Remy would come back. Of course he would...he always did.
"I'm sorry, it's...a bit much, the..." He waved a hand vaguely, and tried a smile that was nothing like convincing, though it was the best he could manage. The creak of leather was still hovering around the edges of perception, just waiting to burst, full-flowered into a memory that Vanyel stalwartly did not need to dwell on, "Well. The Captain."
Remy kissed the top of his lover's head. "Don't you dare apologize."
The wizard looks over to the other's discarded comm. "The Captain? Yeah...he...he can be rough." As much as he thinks Jinx deserved what he got, it was upsetting Vanyel and he always took the Herald's side.
"I...Can't condone it, but I don't disagree," It sounded simple, laid out like that, but until he'd said it aloud, it'd seemed a larger beast, sitting in his lungs and setting teeth into every breath, "Gods, I've...I'd do worse, in his place."
