The 87th anniversary of the day another country dropped an atomic bomb on a city in my country.

[An atomic bomb? Zelda's always missing something. Bombs usually mean 'bad', though, so...]

Oh... You... are perhaps honoring the memories of others then as a result...?

Mostly people use it to campaign for nuclear disarmament.

[North has learned about this!]

Are you Japanese?

Yes.

[She has a slight but recognizable Japanese accent to her English.]

So you're from Earth?

[North has never actually heard a Japanese accent, to be honest. He knows what accents ARE but has painfully little experience with them. He's technically only about two and a half years old.]

O-Oh--uh--my condolences. I-I'm familiar with the history and I'm...sorry.

An Earth, certainly.

What do you have to be sorry for? Are you President Truman? Or perhaps Colonel Tibbets?

[Hello, North. Meet Major Kusanagi. She is a bitch.]

The day the most devastating weapon our world had produced to that point was used on my country.

It killed mostly civilians.

[Oh how that's reminding Remy of the destruction his family was responsible for.]

I'm...that's...That's horrible. I'm sorry.

To be quite honest, it was better than the firebombing of the capital that had been going on up until then. They were still finding unexploded ordnance 75 years later.

It was the psychological shock, and the radioactive fallout that continued to kill after the initial explosion that really made it stick in people's minds.

Grab some drinks! Let's celebrate!

[No he is not aware how inappropriate that is.]

[Pause.]

I'll pass.

Hiroshima--that's a name I haven't heard before.

I haven't heard of an 'atomic' bomb, either.

The Light Realm has such interesting weapons.

[Giggle.]

Hiroshima is a city.

An atomic bomb liberates energy in an uncontrolled nuclear fission reaction.

"Japan" can be read as "the Land of the Sun's Origin," not "the Light Realm."
