Procrastination!

I don't usually do memes. But procrastinating papers is important. Thirty songs, see if you can guess them from the first lines. I know a lot of the music I listen to is obscure, I've tried to pick stuff I hope at least some of you will recognize.

1. A long, long time ago I can still remember How that music used to make me smile -- American Pie by ( Read more... )

Right on all but 25. That one's really obscure, I'm not sure any of you listen to it, though I've made a few people listen to it

damn somebody beat me to saying American Pie, Don Mclean (i think that's his name) anyway.

6. Stairway to Heaven, Led Zeppelin
10. -damn I know it's Pink Floyd from The Wall but I can't remember the title right now (fail, right?) ...I'm sure it'll come to me.
15. ...I know I've heard it in Monty Python but I don't know who did the original.
19. Renegade, Styx
28. White Room, Cream
30. Piano Man, Billy Joel

You listen to good music =)

10 is In the Flesh? by Pink Floyd
and is 17 just called Lunatic? I know it's Pink Floyd....or wait, is that Dark Side of the Moon? A lot of their songs blur together >.

Right on all but 17 and 15. You are correct it's from Dark Side of the Moon, but not on the song name (there actually is no song titled Dark Side of the Moon)

15 is actually originally a William Blake poem, so you may have heard it numerous places. There are a couple different musical adaptations, but I can't find anything about a Monty Python one

Andrew beat me to half the ones I know. I guess we have similar tastes. Well, let's see:

5: Dances with the Moonlit Knight by Genesis
8: Aqualung by Jethro Tull
14: Jacob's Ladder by Rush (I think it's Rush)
15: Jerusalem. Words by William blake; I'm not sure who first set it to music, but you're probably listening to the Emerson, Lake, and Palmer version.
16: I Want to Hold Your Hand by the Beatles
18: Take a Pebble by Emerson Lake and Palmer
21: Thick as a Brick by Jethro Tull
25: Something by Van de Graaf Generator. I forget what it's called though.
29: Protect and Survive by Runrig I didn't know you listened to them; I'm impressed.

Also, out of curiosity, did you pick these with a random shuffle the way these things are usually done or did you just pick 30 songs you listen to?

I picked 30 I listen to. If I just did random shuffle there would be more repeats of artists (my tastes aren't that broad most of the time) and more that probably no one would know. There are also a couple songs I put in there because I like them but don't actually own.

All correct.

It's one of the few Runrig songs I really like, I don't like them as much as you and Dad do

24: Dust in the Wind by Kansas
27: Sealion by Jethro Tull

I have the same problem as summerflame17-I know most of the ones that have been already guessed. :P

I don't know who sings number four, but it's called Your Brains. (I have a lot of zombie-loving friends. :P)
Number 2 is the Who's Love Reign Over Me
Number 20 is the Police, but I forget the title.
