AGH, how did a city declared by the UN to be the most multicultural in the world, which also happens to have a pride parade attracting over a million attendees, vote some racist, homophobic bigot into the mayor's office.

I have to agree the Ontario elections... the Ottawa elections were somewhat of a gong show with over a hundred people running for different posts and an erosion of leftist support.

The only 'positive thing' would be the fact that the deputy leader of the greens got in as one of the coucillors here, so I'm hoping he can act as a voice on social issues as well as environmental ones. (he goes to my church, and is a bit of an ass but I'm hoping that works in his favor)

As for my favorite to get in as mayor, he came in third :( that's what I get for being a lefty in a righty town.

I forgot to finish my original thought, ahem... The Ontario Elections were a huge right wing love fest. Yuck!

Yuppp. AGH. It's irritating, cause Toronto is regarded as such a liberal city, and like.. 80% of the city councilors are quite liberal. And then this asshole gets voted in to lead them all. :(

Everything is going conservative now that Harper is in, I guess. Oiii.

One of my other TO friends just posted something similar with a link to his wikipedia posting. Oh my goodness, I didn't realise there could that much stupidity in one person. How the HELL did he become mayor. Are the residents of Toronto that stupid?
