watched citizen kane last night for the first time - it was a great movie, one i'm sad i didn't see before. orson welles was surprisingly dashing as a young man, and i thought the camera work, and the acting was quite amazing for a 60+ year old film. kinda sucked that i already knew what rosebud was though. next in queue from netflix is one flew Read more... )

Mmmmmmm I love young Orson Wells. I recommend Jane Eyre, the version with him as Mr. Rochester. I think it came out in 1945. It's hard to come by, but he is excellent. :)

Apropos of nothing, I just had my 3-Day assignment interview, and I'm officially on your Philly roster. Yay!

kinda sucked that i already knew what rosebud was though.

oh THANKS. RUIN it for EVERYONE ELSE! *lol*

seriously though... i thought the same thing when we watched it. "this is a good movie, but i wish i didn't know what Rosebud was." i sort of had the same feeling with Soylent Green. (only, that wasn't a good movie.)

now, imagine that feeling with Sixth Sense. i had a friend who completely ruined the ending for me. he spoiled it without my realizing he'd spoiled it. he said the big secret and then said, "but you find out anyway, so it's not really important." maybe he was trying to casually cover up that he'd just spoiled the whole point of the movie.

ten minutes into the movie i thought... "howcome i know [X] to be true?" and i remembered my conversation with my friend. i was sooooo pissed off. i finished the movie, and i liked it, but i didn't get that OMFG feeling at the end of the movie like everyone else on the planet.

(for anyone who hasn't seen it, i've been cryptic enough that i haven't spoiled it either! *g*)

hahah - i didn't say WHAT or WHO rosebud is! :)

i've been spoiled with the sixth sense as well, so i've just never bothered to watch it.
