Darkness Beyond Night (LotR drabble, Eowyn/Faramir, G)

Another drabble for apreludetoanend's first line meme = another fandom. *g*

First line of this is hers. Eowyn and Faramir belong to JRR Tolkien. It's worth noting that Eowyn is much less severely injured in the movie than she actually was in the book. Same with Faramir. These are the original book versions, meeting in the House of Healing.

I'm not familiar with these characters, but this is lovely. You're good at matching to tone of the piece to the line you've borrowed. It really works here.

These were so nice:

It summons her.

Slowly he returns from the lost places, his gaze regaining clarity.

Aww! It's very nice of you to read and comment even though you don't know these characters! :)

It has been really fun, trying to pick the right line for each fandom (or vice versa), and incorporating it as seamlessly as possible. So it's not just a question of matching tone to line, but also tone to fandom. My usual S/X styles would be completely inappropriate for LotR, for instance.

I think I've run out of fandoms that I can write in, though. *g*

hm, usually I read only Buffy Angel or QaF, but I read the book of course and I think you captured the moment between the two of them very well

Thank you! I usually only write BtVS/AtS, but I've had fun dipping my toes into a few other fandoms with these drabbles. I'm glad you liked this one. :)

This is really gorgeous, there's a lovely poetic feel to this. It's so lovely how there's nothing spoken, and it's all through feeling and touch. I really love this, and it's captured the flavour of the books:
Slowly he returns from the lost places, his gaze regaining clarity. One hand comes up to cover hers.

I actually just spent all day Sunday (like 12 hours) watching the LOtR trilogy (extended editions) at my friend's place (on surround sound!) so this is very timely cause I'm very thinking about LOtR right now. *g*
