I found this very interesting. I particularly liked hearing about your experiences with police, and I'm very curious about what sorts of mental health issues you came across. (That is brewing ideas for some brainwashing fic.)

Lol @ the keystone cops.

Mental health issues...wow, too many to go into here, really. You name it, it crossed my path. A few I felt sorry for, some I liked, and a very few ended up scaring me. I got a lot of men who I'm sure suffered from depression, some I thought were bipolar, and one guy who I'm positive was a psychopath.

I have only met one psychopath for sure, and I am disappointed to say that he did successfully manipulate me. He had an odd smell about him that relaxed me, I'm guessing pheromones. I do love to read about them academically though.

I was raised by a dangerous sociopath, so my experience with them is too damn much. Don't feel too bad about it, they can be extremely convincing.

Thanks for providing this resource. I don't know that I plan to write any BDSM fic, but I learned a ton from it anyway.

I figured that there probably weren't many in the fandom, so why not add to the pool of information. Thanks for reading.

Very interesting. Thanks so much for sharing. I don't write or read BDSM fics, because they just don't do anything for me (or at least, very rarely do - perhaps they just aren't written well), but I'm always interested in different careers.

It's also nice to have the no-sex thing confirmed. I always believed that (just seemed logical to me, I guess), but then so many people seemed to think otherwise that I started to doubt myself.

Also, that story about smacking the vice-cop is hilarious. I bet he really did enjoy it - and better yet, could get his department to pay for it. :)

I very rarely read BDSM fic, because it is usually about the tools, and not about emotion or motivation. My Sherlock fics are the first BDSM fics I've written, and I wrote them because I wanted to explore the psychological and emotional reasons for that type of relationship, and make it a genuine romance. They are heavy on the character study and fairly light on the tools.

I will never forget the look on that vice cop's face. I'm actually positive that he enjoyed it. I can just imagine him grrmumbling excuses to his fellow officers later.

Oddly enough, when I asked my police clients about vice they were all pretty derisive.

This was fascinating, thank you.

(And hello from a fellow aspie.)

Yay, Aspies!

I'm sure you can imagine why being a remote and elegant type Dom was not going to be in my repertoire.

Mmm, yes.

I wonder if there's a certain appeal to a situation where rules are stated and agreed upon explicitly, given the complex spaghetti of unwritten rules we have to navigate in society.

Rules, schmools.

A transaction, even the commoditization of sex and pain, where nothing is expected of you except what was explicitly agreed upon in the contract...its a ray of sunshine to a lot of people.
