I'm doing double duty on this week's episode of StarShipSofa. I narrate M. Bennardo's haunting story "Water Finds Its Level," and I also kick off a three-part series (recognizing the 125th anniversary of the Autumn of Terror) that explores the ways in which science fiction has wrestled with the mystery of Jack the Ripper. If you listen, I hope you ( Read more... )

So if you're introduced to him, do you say, "Glad to Meacham."

Not really related to the above post, but I've come across an interesting title for your dystopia list, assuming you include non-print media. It's called Psycho-Pass, and one way to describe it is if you crossed Ghost in the Shell with Minority Report.

ROFLOL! I came this close to doing it...

Oooh, thank you for the information re: Psycho-Pass! My students are always looking for non-print media "texts" - great stuff.

Haven't had a chance to listen to your story narration yet, but I loved part 1 of your Autumn of Terror series. What a way to commemorate 125 years of JackMania!

Oh, I'm thrilled you liked it! *bounces up and down* Thank you so much.

You can be assured that the series ends with a hearty recommendation of Tales of Jack the Ripper! :)

Also finished listening to your latest Sofa narration yesterday. All I can say is that you are the queen of heartbreak SF audio . . . that final few minutes was both moving & chilling.

Aw, I appreciate this so much! I do love me some heartbreak. ;) All the credit goes to M. Bennardo for writing such a visceral, moving story. It was a privilege to get to narrate it.

Thanks for your kind words, my friend!

Yet another stunning Genre History segment! Thank you! I think your assurances that Jack the Ripper does, in fact, have something to do with SF are completely unnecessary! I would listen to you discuss the history of the telephone book if you did one for StarShipSofa (or anywhere else)! And here are a few more exclamation points for good measure!!!!!
