[Central mansion:lobby] I'm seeing two of you and I can't say that I mind

Connor was, to put it kindly, drunk. It was an understatement. The last time he had been this intoxicated had been his twenty-first birthday, and only because Tom had told him that he'd play a better game with a few beers in him. A few had turned into a case, and- Well, it wasn't a pretty sight. This wasn't either. Not by a long shot. He'd stumbled ( Read more... )

It was late, and Death was just returning from taking a walk after leaving La Vie en Rose. The night air had been crisp, and the way the stars twinkled, so big and bright, was one of Death's favorite things. If she'd wished, she could have reached up and plucked one from the black of the night sky, like an apple from a tree.

Her heels faintly clicked against the lobby floor as she entered, waving politely to the receptionist. As she walked deeper into the mansion, she heard a faint, sporadic humming and it made her stop. She turned, looking for the source and found it, in the shape of someone with a hat on their face. They appeared to be sleeping, but still hummed the nonsense tune.

Death crossed over to them, leaning over them a little as she grabbed the very top of the hat, lifting it gently to reveal the familiar face beneath.

"Connor, are you sleeping or humming? You really gotta make up your mind, sweetie."

Connor's song stopped when his hat was lifted. He squinted against the hotel's lights and blinked several times to focus on the face above him. "Didi?" He scrambled up, "Hey! I saw you! At the restaurant. D'ya have a good time?" He was slurring and stumbling over his words, still lazing over the chair and grinning like a dope up at her. There was maybe, possibly, perhaps a bit of jealous lingering in his voice, but it could have also been the slurred tone taking over. Who knew?

Quickly, he sat up, then decided that was a terrible idea and watched the world spin for a moment. "Whoa.." He leaned back hard against the chair. "Had a bit t'drink t'night." As if it wasn't obvious.

"It was nice," Death replied, doing her best to not sound as vague as she wanted to. "The food was lovely. Did you try the chocolate dessert? To die for," Death smiled, handing him back his hat.

"I can see that." At his 'whoa', she leaned back a little, concern furrowing her otherwise happy features. "Do you need a glass of water?"

"D'n't have much after the first pint." He grinned, not realizing that his accent was dissolving into nonsense as he kept on. Connor took his hat and put it back on his head, though a little lopsided. "Hmm? Water? Nahhh, I'm up t'my eyeballs with drink." He thought about standing and almost made it, but fell back into the chair.

"I've been meanin' t'find you." He said, pulling out his phone. "Y'know you're not in here?" He flipped to the contacts. "No Didi in the whole list. Was gonna text you the other day. Couldn't."

Nathan was proving to be easily distracted. When you didn't have to worry about the government banging down your door -- At least one perk to this place, and the only thing so far he was able to completely accept -- this really wasn't a problem.

So this hum catching his attention fairly easily deterred him from making his exit from the lobby. He was planning on flying, seeing what he could gather from the city that way. Hopefully, if he could get up high enough, without being seen.

That would have to wait a minute though. The legs hanging over that chair might need some help.

"Hello?"

Connor stopped mid-hum when he heard a voice. He didn't recognize the voice, but that didn't matter. He sat up and slid his hat back on (though it was on a bit crooked). He tilted his head to one side, looking at the man. He wasn't even sure if he'd ever seen the guy at the hotel, though he hadn't met everyone yet.

"Can I 'elp you?" He said, slurring his words as he spoke. He didn't seem put off by the man's presence, just confused. He stood and leaned against the chair. "Do I know you? Don't think I do. Name's Connor." He shoved a hand out, but it dropped before Nathan had the chance to decide whether or not to shake it. "Y'hungry? I'm starving."

For once, he wasn't the drunk one. After embarassing himself in front of Claire in Mexico, Nathan couldn't say he didn't enjoy this. Just a little. "You don't need to eat." He promised him, offering a hand to help him up. "You need coffee." And then a little more than a little sleep.

"And I'm Nathan." If Connor remembered his name later, he'd be surprised. "Drinking on your own?"

"Coffee? Never touch the stuff." He was up and moving towards the dining area. "What I need is-" Connor spun around to face Nathan and the world spun with him. He felt his stomach lurch and before he could stop himself, dinner came back up with a vengeance. Doubled over, Connor panted as he body decided whether or not it wanted to go for another round.

"Urghl..." He groaned, hands on his knees as he tried to calm his body from rejecting anything else. It didn't work. Another lurch and his stomach was officially empty. He didn't move, though, just groaned.
