004 [el dorado police department] not gonna stand here and wait

Dec 06, 2010 23:17

Aside from being relatively bored, Dick was a pretty happy camper. Whatever had been causing the whole fear of heights thing had apparently gone away, there hadn't been any new horrifying arrivals, and in general, it had just been life as usual for the young man for a while now. Sure, there seemed to be a couple people missing from his contacts ( Read more... )

[text] why don't you tell me when you do this. motorcyclechic December 7 2010, 13:56:41 UTC
No. Why?

Jason hadn't been doing much, and like Dick, he was feeling the strain of inactivity. Oh sure, he had Bruce to observe, creepily, unwilling to approach him just yet, and the new arrival, Oliver, who might or might not know him, and Dean, on principal of dude that's my face.

But he wasn't actually doing anything. No shakedowns, no hustling the bad guys.

Because I've got an idea I want your opinion on.

Which really meant it was going to be more of a "This is what I'm planning on doing, do you want to come along or not" than a "Talk me out of this right now please because I've clearly lost my mind." Getting back in the costume was pretty much inevitable at this point, it was sort of just a matter of time as to when it actually happened.

Where are you then?

Jason wouldn't discourage it at all - if anything, he'd egg Dick on, simply because if he knows Bruce might disprove of it, he's all for it. Coming along was more of a muddy issue, because he didn't want to reveal the Red Hood outfit to Dick just yet, which meant he'd have to use the face mask, and possibly alter his suit.

But it could be done if he was interested. And he'd never had much opportunity to run with Grayson on his own; he was either with Bruce, or he was a kid and didn't warrant the same treatment as an adult.

Police station. I can meet up with you somewhere halfway though, I seriously doubt anyone's gonna miss me.

Which was true. It, like every other day in El Dorado, was slow and in all likelihood, no one was going to be that upset if he skipped out for a while.

Parker wasn't actually turning herself in. That'd be crazy. She was slightly off-balance, but she was far from crazy (most days). However, she was a curious type which meant she had to know her enemy. Not that the police were her enemy, but at the moment they were an opposing force.

"I think someone robbed me."

It wasn't a complete lie, because she had prefaced it with 'I think' but she knew that if anything, she had been the one stealing things. Here and there. Odds and ends.

Dick had heard someone enter the station, but aside from the casual glance up to see who it was, he didn't really acknowledge Parker until she addressed him. She was one of the first people he'd met in the city, but hadn't seen much of her around lately, and she easily could have been here to see someone else... all, like, three other people who hung around here, anyway[.

He put his phone down and looked at her curiously. "You think someone robbed you?"

Don't look at her with that skepticism already, she very well could have a real case for you to look into. Just, she doesn't. Not really. Well, not unless she wants to incriminate herself.

Which she doesn't.

"Yep." Of course, even after she stated that 'for the record' she moved across the room and took a seat in the hardback wooden chair. You're lucky she didn't prop her feet up on the desk.

It's not that he doesn't believe you, Parker, it's just usually most people either were robbed or they weren't. Still, he'll play this by the book for now, and after carefully putting aside all the unfinished paperwork he was supposed to be working on, he grabbed the appropriate paperwork and a pen, looking at her expectantly.

"So, I'm guessing you want to file a formal report?"
