[location: central mansion lobby] Here For The Party

Darkness was just falling on the city as he and Abi geared up to go save Blade. Well... saving might not have exactly been the right word. No one saved Blade, generally, until now. What better way to introduce yourself for the first time as his backup when the man never knew you existed? King was giddy in a controlled fashion. He was anytime they ( Read more... )

She just always ends up being the welcome wagon... abigailsciuto October 9 2010, 02:39:38 UTC
"The joke gets better."

Abby was just about to head back out to her lab for the evening when she noticed someone looking way too confused to be one of El Dorado's regulars. It seemed like new people were popping up left and right. Apparently the 'gods' were getting bored with them. Maybe that would mean Abby could go home soon. Maybe that would mean something good. It probably didn't, but a girl could hope, right?

"It's elaborate, and the punchline is really lame, though. A let down, really." She gave him a sad little half-smile. "Bright side? A sweet room and a gold plated phone. Not-so-bright side? You're sort of trapped here. We all are."

King spun around to face the woman that had addressed his comment. Cute in a little gothy way, he had to suppress a flirty smile from cropping up on his face. So a scowl settled on there instead- a disappointing look that followed the crossing of his arms. "I'm dying to hear what this punch line is since the joke truly isn't one of my usual types of gags."

Carefully the former vampire canted his head to the left looking down at the woman who was obviously a possible welcoming committee. Maybe. Didn't those usually contain balloons and a little more fanfare? Not that King ever expected anything like that for himself. Usually it involved people cursing his name and shooting guns at him. "What exactly do you mean by... trapped."

"I mean>/i> stuck, unable to leave, kidnapped is a personal favorite of mine, but really it's just a matter of preference. No, we don't know why we're here. It's all sort of vague, really, but not half bad if you don't mind the whole 'you may never see your friends or family again' thing." Abby put one hand on her hip and stuck the other one out to shake.

"I'm Abby Sciuto, by the way. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I figure it's easier to just do it like a band aid."

Oh another Abby! Why was it that the Abby's that he knew always had the ability to drop the bombs on him? It had to be something in their contracts- it was the only way King could honestly explain it. "You know, they are all, personally, words that I really don't like or tend to agree with. Would 'borrowed' be a better one? Because I have this thing about busting a few caps in some peoples asses." There was no way he was going to miss busting Blade out of the jail! Nuh-uh! No way!

"Band aid? Feels more like a waxing strip being ripped off." See King was the very protective sort about his quasi-family. Not being able to see them again made the man flex his hands in to fists as he crossed his arms. He'd find a way to bust himself out if he had too. Someone had to keep an eye on Abigail, Zoe, and the others. Which is why it took King more than a few seconds longer to respond to her offer for a handshake. "Hannibal King- most people call me King though."

Carolyn looked up from her phone in time to keep her from running right into the man who... Well looked like he'd just arrived. Pausing, she sighed a little. These things always seemed to happen when she was running just a bit behind schedule.

"I'm sorry, but this isn't a joke. It might seem like one, but... It's really not." she informed him tucking her phone into the pocket of her labcoat.

"Honestly I was thinking it was a really cheesy one. Ha ha... in a hotel..." Pausing the taller man raised a hand to scratch at the back of his neck. "Well it was funnier when I was thinking about it anyway." The timing of his arrival was always at the worst moments in some cases. Or either just a few seconds ahead of behind when ht was supposed to be somewhere. This, though, well he didn't have any control over that.

Finally the bearded man crossed his arms looking down at the woman before one brow slowly arched upward. "So if this isn't some sort of elaborate hoax or a particular Whistler getting even with me, then what is it?"

Carolyn's eyebrows shot up a little. "Obviously it was." She didn't even get where he'd been going with his attempt at the joke, but she supposed it really didn't matter.

She straightened the edge of her lab-coat and shrugged a little. "Basically you've been brought to El Dorado because some Gods found you worthy. So we're all stuck on this flying city and we're all from different times, different dimensions even."

Whatever snarky reply Hannibal was going to give the lab coated woman was actually choked back at that. Gods brought them somewhere? Peoples view on religion and what Gods were was a skewed thing. Like Drake. King was pretty sure that the thing was just an over sized vampire with an ego complex. Higher Beings generally weren't that at all at least in his personal experiences. "This is where someone needs to jump out and either say 'Surprise! You're on Candid Camera!' or 'Are you scared? You shouldn't be because you're on Scare Tactics!'."

Expectantly King waited. Eyes darting around before settling back on the woman infront of him. "You're being serious. Aren't you."

Not having been in the city all that long herself, Inara was still getting use to things. Like sharing an apartment with Mal, but that in her mind was just cruel considering their 'relationship'. On top of all that, she was having to get use to the fact that everyone was from different dimensions. It was almost too mind boggling to comprehend at times.

So seeing a confused looking man in lobby, didn't even really make her bat an eye lash, but his statement did.

Pausing, she glanced around, thinking that maybe he was addressing someone else. Not seeing anyone, she turned her attention back to him as she adjusted the shawl around her shoulders. "I'm sorry, but I don't understand which practical joke you're referring to."

King spun around again this time towards the voice that was speaking to him. Without speaking he made a little gesture to the room that they were in and whatever else was around. "Suddenly finding myself standing in a hotel lobby surrounded by people who think I'm insane when in reality I'm not. I think." That was left to be determined by the State for an appointment he never showed up for. Rolling his shoulders, King settled his gaze on the woman allowing one brow to arch upward slightly settling in to an easy stance. "Which leads me to believe that either Danica cashed in a cheap favors or tricks or Whistler actually managed to pull a fast one on me."

If Abi had then he was going to have to plan his revenge. While they would be even with this, King was, well, the king at getting jokes over on his team mates.

"Ah," Inara smiled, realizing that the man was new. She'd found herself equally as confused when she'd first arrived. Confused and even a little afraid. Though honestly, learning the truth of the situation hadn't really helped all that much either.

She spread her hands out in a helpless gesture. "I'm sorry, but I don't know a Danica or a Whistler, and I don't think that they're here, to be perfectly honest." Her head tilted a little to the side as she observed the man. "I'm Inara... Perhaps I can help you?"

"Danica Talos....? Yeah not surprised if you don't know her. Be thankful you don't know the little bi-" Cutting himself off King forced a wide grin. While he did have a foul mouth, perhaps now wouldn't be the best of times to be using it. Yet at least. "She's not exactly the sharpest crayon in the box."

King didn't really expect the woman to know who Abi was. Not a lot of people knew about their services keeping the vampires from trying to take over the world. But it was what they did along with other smaller groups of Nightstalkers across the world. "Inara... I'm King." What could she do to help? Well Hannibal could think of a lot of things starting with them getting out of there. "So where are we? If we can get out of the city I'm sure I can get us somewhere safe."
