Anyone who happened to be lurking in the main lobby when the Powers That Be (or whatever higher power it was that pulled people into the city at random) decided that Angel could use a change of scenery was certainly in for a visual treat ( Read more... )

Her trip back to her room was cut short, really short as she was slammed backwards suddenly, the full weight of someone being thrown into her. Her entire body slammed into the floor and then backed up into the wall.

There was an audible sound as her breath was knocked from her lungs, but once her head knocked to the wall, she was pretty much pissed off.

"Get the fuck off'v me!" Faith said as she shoved the person off of her, which took just a bit of effort as she tried to get the air back into her lungs.

By the time she'd shoved him off, Angel was already scrambling back to his feet. It took him a second to register the fact that he was no longer standing on the street in front of the office. That explosion must have knocked him back a lot farther than he'd thought. Of course, his senses lit up by the familiar smell added to the telltale sound of her voice--which, really, should have been a giveaway all on its own. He turned back toward the girl he'd just knocked over, his mind racing as he tried to piece it all together.

"Faith..?" Color him confused.

Scrambling to her feet, she bent over trying to help air get into her lungs, but when she heard her name, in that voice, she tilted her head, "Angel?"

Standing up straight, she smirked, "Shit, that's one hell of an entrance. You okay?"

What was she doing here? Did it have something to do with the office blowing up? If Wolfram and Hart had been trying to cut off his resources, it would make sense for them to have gone after Faith as a potential ally, too. Angel's confusion was dwarfed only by the sense of panic that one of his friends might be dead while the other was lying in the hospital, dying.

"Wesley."

He'd have to wait to catch up with her until after he was sure that the former Watcher had survived the explosion--although the fact that there was sunlight pouring into the other end of the lobby essentially stopped him in his tracks and prevented him from rushing back outside.

"What is this?"

No sunlight and a show, how could Eric not be amused?

Walking out of the hotel's bar and watching the man -- the vampire, judging by that quickly passing scent -- fly right by him, he slowly lifted an eyebrow, and folded his arms. "Well." He said mildly, the ever present urge for commentary winning out once again. "That was the best entrance I have seen yet."

Too bad that other vampire wasn't around, Eric thought he would have liked this. Come to think of it, he couldn't remember the last time he'd seen that one. Maybe this one was a replacement. "Welcome to El Dorado," Eric drawled, making no move to help the man to his feet. "Clearly, you're going to have a wonderful time here."

"Glad you enjoyed it," Angel deadpanned, not shifting from his hunched over position in the seat where Faith had left him except to look up at the newcomer. It was hardly the friendliest of responses, sure, but in his defense he'd just been pulled into the city from the most inconvenient point these 'gods' could have possibly pulled him from. That, and he wasn't exactly known for his glowing interpersonal skills in general.

Besides, something about this guy's warm welcome didn't exactly sit well with him. Of course, it could have been the fact that Eric was a vampire, but if he was expecting some sort of kinship or camaraderie out of Angel then he'd only end up pretty disappointed.

"Call me crazy, but you don't exactly strike me as the type to roll out the welcome wagon for everyone who pops in here."

"I'm not, I was simply commenting on an entrance well done." Whoever that girl had been, they'd clearly known each other. Good. One less person ambling about in a perpetual daze while they attempted to 'adjust' to their new surroundings.

Although this one's forte seemed to be more perpetual angst than perpetual daze, and he was clearly a natural for it. He and Bill were perfect for each other. "You can stop pouting, it's not as though you are the only one here. There's also blood at the hospital, you may want to obtain some before the sun rises."

Eric started to wonder if this place was making him too well behaved. He wouldn't've bothered with this in the real world.

"It doesn't compare to a good human, but regardless."

"I don't feed on human blood." Congratulations, Eric, you just managed to confuse your dark and brooding new friend. Not many vampires offer up the hospital's stock of donor blood as an alternative to a live human. He wasn't complaining, of course--more genuinely curious as to why another vampire would choose said alternative.
