As she began to wake up in bed, nothing felt out of a place at first. It seemed just like any other morning. The house was quiet, which made sense because it was Saturday and that meant that her parents would be trying to catch that little bit of extra sleep that could be had before she woke up and went to pounce them. As she woke up further she ( Read more... )

Tony had been exploring the surrounding area ever since he'd woken up that morning. He'd been hoping that going to bed would somehow make him wake up back in D.C. the same way it had made him wake up here. He was still not completely convinced that this wasn't somehow a wacky, on going dream, but the more time passed, the more that seemed to be less of a reality and more of a deep wish. Either way, it was best to know the area you were staying in; layout, possible means of escape, safety precautions... The whole shebang. He'd done sketches of the building to make sure he knew where everything was and had a detailed list of what rooms could be handy in case of emergency.

Returning to his room was at least a chance to get a break. Yes, it was still awkward and not his home, and true, he was jumpy enough that he'd taken a page out of Ziva's book and started sleeping with a gun under his pillow, but it was at least... Safe. It was his place in this weird city and he could keep his space exactly as he liked it ( ... )

Tali had worked herself into the corner to hide. And while she was trying to keep her crying down, it wasn't really working. She wasn't even really aware of just how loud she was being. Sure it was muffled by her camel but she was far too upset to be keeping quiet ( ... )

"Jesus!" He managed to call out before tumbling off balance and onto his rear, putting an arm around the small girl as he did so. His other hand went out to catch himself, slamming into the floor with a muffled whimper as he bit into his lip. Last thing he needed was to curse too heavily in front of a small child.

He couldn't say he'd ever had a little girl (or any female, for that matter) look so relieved to see him and so he couldn't help but give a slightly confused, "Uhhh..." as he looked around to see if maybe she was talking to someone else who was standing behind her. He wasn't wearing his badge, no uniform; there was no way she could know he was a cop so the association of being a rescuer was rather... odd.

"Uh, listen, kid? I don't - I mean, I'm not - I don't -" He stammered and sputtered, trying to find a way to tell her he was no better off than she was without making her cry more. So he went with something safe;

"Where are your parents?"

There were so many times that Tali would tackle her father in the excitement of seeing him. From a very early age as soon as she saw him her entire face would light up. It was no secret back home that Tony was God in Tali's eyes. Which for a man who had always wanted women to worship was probably a dream come true. She still clung to him, sobbing in relief. So much so that she didn't even hear what he was saying at first ( ... )
