Stretched out in one of the many lounge chairs beside the pool was a blonde. Dressed for soaking up some rays, she had a pair of sunglasses covering her eyes. Said eyes were closed and she was humming softly, along with an iPod that she'd asked the woman at the front desk for.

It was on a whim, to be honest, but the receptionist had complied. The iPod had been filled with a variety of music. Hits of the 70's, 80's, and 90's. And some of the more popular stuff from when Karolina last remembered listening to music. And down towards the bottom of the list, there was a CD she hadn't expected. A 'Best of' CD set for the Beatles. Karolina had lost track how many times she'd teared up, listening to "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", but she was getting better at hiding the swell of emotions she felt from that song.

With the music playing, she didn't pay any attention to her surroundings, toes tapping at the air in time with the beat.

Shane wound up in full view of Karolina as he came around the corner, almost tripped over himself attempting to come to a full stop. Graceful as ever. Awkwardly, he considered his next move. He hadn't even been a hundred percent aware he'd been headed towards a pool in the first place.

Now, seeing this girl with the headphones in her ears, it looked as though she might want time to herself. Which was fine. He could get out of her way if that was the case.

If it wasn't, well, it might be alright to hang out. She was young, sure, but he did fine around Claire without it being too weird. Didn't he? He did.

Letting that sense of accomplishment decide things for him, even though it wasn't remotely like he himself was dressed for sunbathing -- or ever actually did anything like that, ever -- Shane headed over to one of the lounge chairs and sat down.

Wasn't any weirder a place to think than a glass sidewalk, was it?

The song she was humming along with soon finished and she made a face as the next one came on. Why she put that thing on shuffle, she had no idea. Karolina sat up a little, lifting her hand that held the iPod, so she could sift through the music, getting to what she wanted.

Through the dark sunglasses, the screen was close to unreadable and with her free hand, Karolina lifted her shades, and out of the corner of her eye, she saw someone sitting nearby.

A little on the startled side, Karolina jerked in her seat, turning to face him fully, squinting from the sunshine. "Um...hi?"

So maybe this was going to be awkward anyway. Oh well, at least he'd tried.

"Hey." Shane nodded her way, leaning back in his chair. Maybe he could play this like he wasn't being ridiculous. "Sorry, just figured that since I wound up back here anyway and there was space, I'd take a seat for a bit. If you don't mind."

She didn't seen pissed off, which was good. He didn't want to accidentally short out her iPod through getting annoyed, or anything like that. She looked like a nice girl.

After conquering her fear of the pool, Sasha had pulled on a dress to cover up and started out in search of something cool to drink. The mansion had almost everything that she could want, but exploring the city seemed more exciting to her than staying in the place where she was comfortable. She had been playing it safe for too long; something had to give. And if she happened to meet a few cute guys or spend a crazy amount of money, then that was just a bonus.

The last bonus she expected to find in the city was the familiar face who was headed her way. She knew she had spotted him first because he wasn't really looking up, and that made her twice as happy. It was only polite to give him a loud, ridiculously excited warning in the form of the word "Roomie!" shouted in his direction as she hurried toward him. Then she tackled him, expecting him to be able to balance her weight the way he always used to.

If he couldn't, oh well. They'd fall to the ground and then she'd get to tackle him more. Not a bad thing at all.

Roomie?

No, no, that was inside his head. No one called him Roomie here, and she was in Gotham, there was not a chance in hell that she'd be-- He knew that hair. That streak of reddish brown was unmistakable.

"Oh Christ, you've gotta be kiddin' m--" Shane had to laugh when her body made contact with his, but that quickly cut into a yelp as he flailed and went backwards, Sasha landing squarely on top of him. He coughed, all the air flying out of his chest complete with a nice 'whoosh' effect. "... How the hell'd you get here?" He choked out.

This would've been better if he'd been expecting it. Or had maybe two seconds more notice. Yeah, maybe then he'd've been more skilled.

Right.

Sasha tried.

It might not have looked at it, but the second they landed, Sasha tried extremely hard to pretend that she was worried about the fall. She would have been genuinely concerned if she had heard a snap, or if he had hit his head. As far as she could tell, he had just gotten the wind knocked out of him, and that wasn't so bad. In her mind, it was a small price to pay for a very happy reunion.

"I don't know how I got here, but I do know that I've been here for a while." She slid down a little, making sure that she wasn't putting any pressure on his chest. He looked like he needed to catch his breath, and that was fine. He was more than capable of doing that with her on top of him.

Was she supposed to move? No, she was too comfortable for that.

"So, how're things?"

"A while?" He repeated, disbelieving. How the hell'd he not found her before this? Shane was pretty sure he'd been there since the beginning. And the hotel wasn't that big. "Jesus. This place is ridiculous." Since she apparently wasn't going to move, he let his head drop back lightly against the pavement.

At her question, though, he looked back up again. Shane stared at her for a long minute, then started laughing again. "Just great." He muttered, and looked down at how she was lying on him. And then that sank in. "... You gettin' up, or are we gettin' a tan?" Well, she would be, mostly. Considering she was all over him.

Maybe he didn't want needed her to get up now.
