John had kept to himself since his arrival. After discovering that the woman he had met was not Helen, his spirit had fallen even further. Not only was Ashley missing, but there was a strange woman walking around with Helen's face. Fate was cruel, and perhaps this was some punishment for his past crimes. The people of the city claimed it was a city of the gods, after all. Gods could grant pardons, but they could also smite those they deemed evil. The thought weighed heavily on John as walked slowly through the hotel, happy to be away from most people ( ... )

Helen's head snapped up at the sound of his voice. She knew John's voice anywhere, at anytime. How could she forget it after their history? The history that continued to entwine and craft it's way into something that was sinister. Sinister, but Helen had found she needed it. She needed something left from the Five. Nigel and James were dead. Nikola was a proper human again.

And John had left.

She slowly stood from her chair, her eyes wide and at the same time oh so sad. He teleported away - no destination in mind. Gone forever. Helen tried not to let it bother her. To prove it didn't hurt. But, it did. She was the only thing that remained from that Spring in Oxford.

"John?"

Her voice was pitiful and it was embarrassing. She was trapped in her own mind and now John was there? This telepath was much too cruel for their own good.

It took only a split second for John to hear the difference in her voice. He was certain, that even without the change in accent, given the pain in her tone, he would have known it was her, regardless. John cross the room quickly, falling to one knee at her side. All the stress and strain of Ashley's disappearance - it had weighed heavily on her, surely. He reached out and laid a hand on hers, gently.

"I hoped you hadn't ended up here as well. For Ashley's sake." John sighed and hung his head. This place must not be for punishment if Helen was here. John's theories meant nothing if she was by his side. "We must find a way back to the Sanctuary. There may still be hope to save her yet."

Ashley's sake? There was no such thing. Not anymore. Ashley had been dead for months. It took a great deal of strength to move on from it all. And Helen did what she always did. Moved on and tried to ignore all of the hurt inside. It didn't always work... especially when Ashley's birthday had passed.

Helen covered her face with her free hand. Why was he saying that? Was it possible that, he had ended up here when he teleported away from the Sanctuary? That it somehow altered what he remembered? It was possible... there could of been so much damage from taking the Abnormal back into him.

"Ashley is dead, John. She's been dead for months. Don't you remember?"
