He leaned forward just a little, lowering his voice, a somewhat scared look on his face. "Am I, you know...dead?"
He didn't want to ask that question, but damn it, he had to know. If he suddenly spouted wings, he would probably scream like a girl.

"A vacation? I can't afford a vacation," Chuck replied, shaking his head. He just barely scraped by to buy the alcohol he needed. Along with paying the bills. But a vacation? That was out of the question. When she stuck out her hand, he flashed her a brave little smile, taking her hand and giving it a shake. "Chuck Shurley. Nice to meet you." Considering the circumstances.
