So - after spending the day on Hale's computer I have found an inconvenient truth that has nothing to do with Al Gore. Apparently banks don't jump at the chance to offer mortgages to single guys under 25 with little documented work history, four grand in hospital debt, no down payment and on disability leave.

Around Harriman State Park. I actually found a place I like - haven't seen it yet, as I wanted to have a pre-approval letter before I started really looking, but the online ad looks good.

And let me guess, the Atheneum hasn't helped you out? How quickly they want to shake you down for dues, but when it comes to giving a hand to one of their own, they're nowhere to be seen.

I know the area. That's a good location. Property is reasonable there. You should check out the place regardless, before you invest in something that might have hidden damages that you'll have to fix later.

The one I liked is a serious fixer upper. But I work in construction, so that won't be a problem. In fact, it'll be kinda fun. So long as the foundation's sound.
