This is really hard for me to process because...I don't know...I feel like a movie is just kind of insulting to Sandman and what Dream represents? I could be wrong...I hope I'm wrong...but this is a tough situation. Despite being in capable hands.

I would be interested to hear more about how you feel?

I mean, Sandman is one of those glorious stories that really show what sequential art can do, in a way that will probably not translate well into another medium. I doubt the film will even approach the heights of the series.

But film is where the big money is, and where the big money is invested. It makes sense, especially for DC, to try and take something this successful to film. I'm not hoping it's a good retelling of the comic. I'm just interested to see if they can make it into a good movie, if that makes sense.

Yeah, sequential art and all that. I feel like a Sandman film would be trying to imitate that and doing a "best of" without capturing the heart, meanings, and symbolism. It should defy genre and format while at the same time be something as familiar as storytelling itself. Film may be where the money is, but look at what AMC is doing with the Walking Dead. I'd want to see Sandman do something like that, or a mini-series. Watchmen wasn't as powerful as it could've been as a movie, and a Walking Dead movie would be generic.

Okay, just occurred to me after watching Episodes on Showtime (have you seen it?). Stephen Mangan as Dream.
