I think the coat isn't a big deal and can be ignored, but the fixed point feels like something they should have got right because Jack waiting over a century for the Doctor for answers seems pretty fundamental to Jack as he is pre and during s1 and isn't the fact that he's fixed an explanation for why his immortality can't be overturned or did I misunderstand that? He doesn't know it can't be reversed until he meets up with the Doctor again. He doesn't even know why he is the way he is until the Doctor tells him. If they needed the audience to know that about him they could have had him explain it in his first conversation with Esther.
