Giant Harry Potter Theory/Theories of Doom

Sep 28, 2010 09:53

So, this is the only crazy-developed theory concerning Harry Potter that I’ve even made that hasn’t been directly addressed by a later book. I must have gotten it mostly done before the seventh, and I was a bit disappointed that nothing was ever commented on. Although, knowing J.K. Rowling’s skills with timelines and numbers, perhaps it’s just as ( Read more... )

I've never been a fan of the Marauder era, and thus I've never been a fan of Sirius/Lupin. Draco/Harry, on the other hand...

But anyway, this was a very interesting post! As I've just said, I've never given much thought to this era, and your timeline was therefore very interesting. I never gave much thought to their levels of friendship, or when Lily started liking James.

You should definitely do more posts like this, in your spare time, of course. Maybe I will as well...?

Why, hello there! I haven't seen you here in a while! \o/

Obviously, I have just given too much thought to the whole thing. And spare time? HA! I did when I should have been doing other things. But 90scartoonman kept talking to me about Harry Potter (see previous posts and comments) and I couldn't stop myself!

And of course you should do posts like this! Or just, y'know, more posts. :D

No, no, no such thing as giving too much thought to Harry Potter. The only thought I've ever really given to the Marauder era was whether or not Regulus and Barty Crouch jr. knew each other, or not. I think there's a year or two age difference? It's just that I was thinking that they're perhaps the two most intelligent death eaters, with the exception of Snape. I would be interested in learning more about them. I mean, Regulus figured out some of the horcrux stuff, and BC jr. was able to pretend to be Mad-Eye Moody for an entire year. (And he's my favourite dark arts teacher). So. I don't know where I was going with that.

Anyway, maybe at some point I will have a little update post, about senior project, or something. By the bye, have you seen any Mystery Science Theater 3000? I started watching it nearly two years ago, but I've recently become a tad obsessed.

Hmmmm...I haven't really thought about Barty Crouch Jr. and Regulus and their possible crossing timelines. And I'm a huge, huge Regulus fan, so that is totally unacceptable. I'm going to have to muse on that for a while...and look! Smart Death Eaters! I actually think BC Jr. was completely unhinged, even if he was a conniving little dude. And much as I love Regulus, I don't think he was as brilliant as, say, his older brother. Snape, meanwhile, totally deserves his title as the most accomplished Occlumens ever. But I think that say, Lucius is no dummy - he just chose the wrong side for a lot of reasons, wrapped up in all sorts of reasons like familial loyalty and pride. Draco might be a bit of a tosser, though, if you look strictly at canon and don't add any fanon.

AND POST! I'll read it! You can post about anything at all, you don't need to be serious! Blogging is the future! Or something!

And yes to MST3K! "Look ma, I've invented the wheeeel!" (ok, I've only seen a few episodes. But they're on Hulu now!)

Oooh, very nice theory you've got there. I especially like what you said about James during his sixth and seventh year. That's a good way to tie together everything we know about him.

Thanks! James is the one we know the least amount about, but he's the one that basically hinges this theory - and it still fits the tiny bits of canon we do get on him. So...yeah. :D

Yeah, we know James IS fondly remembered by everyone (except Snape), so there's gotta be a reason.
