Okay. I'm really happy for Oprah Winfrey that she's had such a successful run of her television show, her magazine and whatever else she's been doing. And now, she has premiered the first show of what will be her final (25th) season. Again, congratulations, Oprah! Good for you. Yes, it can be a little annoying, but they don't always tell about the 20 billion other charities and such that she's involved in. The school for girls in Africa (despite its ignominious start), the many homes she had built or provided funding for after Katrina, the tragedy in Haiti, the various fundings for cure research, health and personal improvement, and most recently, her crusade against texting and driving/ distracted driving ( ... )

Actually, that does make me feel better to learn that. Thanks. :) I wish they'd mentioned her charitable work, too, but I guess it doesn't generate enough copy.

Her school in Africa got a lot of press at the time it was being built, because while it was fairly basic (except for good computers) by American standards, some people were upset that she was helping just the one group of students, with not just the school, but I believe free uniforms (including shoes) etc, instead of just feeding as many poor people as possible. But her school is probably meant to build a solid educated middle class out of kids who were poor, which will, over time, help stabilize and improve things in general.

1. Wait till they get the surprise TAX burden for that free trip. Yes, THEY pay for it.

2. It would be nice of course for any new york/hollyqueer actor to Do the Right Thing, but Hey! They have sponsors who want you to BUY things, so do it the Big Hair Bitch's way and roll in them millions! *barf* /sarcasm

Frankly, anything those assholes do or say is not worth the air taken up to say it, to repeat it or the time spent reading it. Or for that matter, responding to it.

So long as "white America" and yes that includes popular black and whatever figures, continues to deny the bottom of the population - which is not rising to better than half - the media will continue to do Bread And Circuses like the Romans did. And we both know how long and how well that lasted.
