IT'S SERIOUSLY JUST... perfectly constructed, I mean I love all kinds of fiction but it's really rare to see a story that fits together as seamlessly as the Philadelphia Story does. But yeeees omg did you know that Katharine Hepburn was the one who got the rights to the film and she picked Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart herself??? You probably did know that, but that fact is my faaavorite.
Dumb musicals and old Hollywood movies in general are sort of a recently acquired interest for me so I'm slowly working my way through a lot of them - I didn't know High Society was a Philadelphia Story remake though so this just bumped it up. Plus Grace Kelly!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to say I really love Grace Kelly but I've only seen her in one thing so I'm gonna say I really love Grace Kelly on a shallow level.
Grace Kelly is sooooo pretty but she's never been a super favorite of mine! I think I've only really seen her in High Society and a couple of Hitchcock films, though.
i skimmed this because, loool, i know nothing about old musicals but. this: What has really always killed me, though, is the way they have to set up the Crosby/Kelly romance with flashbacks in order to make the audience believe it and want it??? They never do that in Philadelphia Story. You just know. It's how all writing should always be.
that kind of sums up every show i like vs every show i don't and i don't know. that's how i feel about acting, too. and real life friendships/relationships, though lolol me, and that's what gets me in trouble. eyes! not words. but with writing, words with silences that tell you everything you need to know.
hi, i'm still in hibernation and this is a weird comment and i don't know.
