Recommended Books of 2011!

Yes, I know it's closer to the 2012's end. Anyway, this is the 4th year of my Books of the Year lists.

Thank you for all the mini-reviews! I always love hearing what people think about books :D

Since you are reading more poetry in English, have you read Those Winter Sundays yet? It's one of the ones that stuck with me long after I got out of high school English.

I love how subtly the feeling of constraint and duty comes in that poem through the form. The enjambment can obscure the rhyme scheme and the regularity of the lines (ten syllables apiece, very traditional) at first, but it sinks in and gives that impression even if you don't notice it at first.

Oh wow, that context does make it sound horrifying. I'm not sure I'd be able to read that even with those witty bits.
