I try GIMP for the first time, and for the first time I tried painting clothes (or anything really). I still haven't explore everything, but I like it so far.
I played with it for about one hour...

Congrats for giving GIMP a try!
I'm really happy with this graphics programme so far^^
Well, I can't claim having more talent than you do but I gave it a try and spent 3 hours or so on the result. It looked quite similar to yours after an hour and I spent the remaining two adjusting and painting the white edges away. You didn't do much different from me I guess. Photomanipulation doesn't need talent, it only needs a lot of patience at times ;3

Here's my result, I made the colours a bit darker though because I personally prefer him like that^^
