I'm supposed to be doing my homework, but I'd rather not (c'mon, you guys, I have a Chinese midterm, give me a break :P), so instead, I'm going to write about evolution.  One of my classes this year is an upper-division biology class, Experimental Ecology & Evolution (E3, for short, and I love it more than any class ever), which is giving me uppity ( Read more... )

Devon, I'm all right with argument, and - lest you accuse me of failing to reply - entirely willing to answer, (once I've finished studying for my midterm, since I think this is going to take a while).

That said, since you're replying to Sarah as well as to me, PLEASE refrain from your urge to patronize to the huddled masses. We know what 'discourse' means. We know that different countries have different systems. Please do us the courtesy of assuming that we are at least as smart as you are, however annoyed you may be.

Everyone else who may be inclined to weigh in at this point: this goes for you, too. My journal. Please be polite.

My apologies for the losses of temper. I have a few things going on right now that have me a tad on edge.

Oh, and I forgot, with regards to the critique: I actually have a new draft of the short story almost done after Karina's critique. I'll send it along as soon as I can.

I like that view-- it is a difference of cause, not effect. If I go outside and say, "It's raining," I don't care too much if the guy next door says, "Yeah, God's crying for the school in Haiti," as long as he doesn't say, "No, it's sunny out. Why aren't you wearing a tank top ( ... )
