Generally, having worked in a mall, taking pictures of products is strictly prohibited. I know at one of the malls I worked in, taking pictures without the permission of the mall adminstrator could have you banned from the mall, and have your camera confiscated.

I think most places are like that in general. As far as they know it could be someone taking pictures of product to duplicate or compare prices, etc.
