I'm 68 and doing the same calcs. Mostly lately, does it make sense for me to wait till 71 to get the slightly larger Social Security check, or would it make sense to take the SS while I'm working now, and bank it? Or is there some penalty for working full time and taking SS? I sort of think there is, but I'm not sure.

Well, i'm 56, so i am speculating on a very early retirement. (Although, would i make art and then have a little business? Or grow plants for sale?)

Your social security benefit will get larger as you wait if, as I assume, you are going to use your own benefit. That's a maximum of 25% which doesn't seem a little. And since cost of living increases are made as a percentage of the benefit, the larger the benefit, the larger the increases.

And you are at "Full Retirement Age", so other than the taxes https://www.ssa.gov/prepare/plan-retirement you'd get your full benefit.
