She’d get over it-it was only puppy love. Surely William Turner could not provide a decent home for her, especially after she’d lived in such comfortable conditions all her life. And James Norrington really did adore the girl-he was truly in love with her. No useless apprentice was going to get in his way when it came to wooing Elizabeth. It was James’ full intention to win over her heart-completely. He wouldn’t tolerate her going into a marriage only half-heartedly. It just didn’t seem right.

James had all of the right qualities for any woman, really, to be attracted to him. Elizabeth was just going through a stage-though he couldn’t help the uneasiness from settling in his stomach. It would all come out all right. For God’s sake-he was a commodore! Certainly winning over a girl’s affections would be a simple task for someone of his rank. Besides, the governor had confidence in the commodore. He was, after all, very capable.

Oh yes, Governor Swann had every confidence in Commodore James Norrington. Even if he were to fail in the task, Governor Swann could easily persuade his daughter. It was his job to look out for her best interests. James also kept a close watch on Elizabeth and her decisions. It was quite possible (and this occurred to James many times) that Elizabeth was the most important part of his life, his loyalty to the throne a close second.

James was the right man for Elizabeth. He’d known her since she could remember. As both were well educated, neither could feel as if they couldn’t keep up with the other in conversation. A coincidence of fate also seemed even more reason for the two to be wed: they were both clever and witty-amusingly so.

James had already planned how he’d kiss her for the first time. She’d be laughing and catch the light in his eye. Her laughter would slow to a stop, her fingers grazing his chin curiously-he loved her curiosity. He’d press his mouth to hers in a quick movement of urgency, but then take it slow, tilting her head up slightly with his own fingers. That was the best part-cradling her jaw in his palm. James thought she’d like that. When these thoughts occurred, he always thought himself a silly romantic. It was true, but he wasn’t sure if it was something to admit. Personally, James rather liked his romantic side. How many times he wondered often, had he wanted to take her into his arms and protect her?

One of his favorite fantasies was to hold her as she slept. Perhaps after proving his feelings by making love, seemed the best scenario. This was most definitely his favorite.

This all crossed Mr. Norrington’s mind as he stared out to sea. He blushed furiously as he saw her approach.

“Hello James.”

Oh yes, today he’d begin the string of events that would make her go from half-hearted to whole-hearted. He did love her dearly. He then greeted her, “Miss Swann.”

What did you all think of that one? I'm hoping to get more feedback on this, because no one is really reviewing on my second fic, so please take the time to review, even if it's just an emoticon! :) Thanks for reading.
