That sounds shitty. I would probably just chalk it up to your director being a tool instead of some sort of malice or judgement of you. Sounds like this sound designer is a punk though. Is this the kind of crap you always have to deal with?
Well, generally I have more crap with all the designers on the show, and since I was working with awesome professionals, there was significantly less except for this dude.
I mean, like seriously, I've done much less for shows and gotten little thank you gifts and been happy because at least I know my time is appreciated because I put blood, sweat and tears into my shows. With this director, it was "hey thanks" and here's a generic card like the one I'm giving to everyone else on the production.
In better news, another inside joke in the play involves melons, so the dramaturg gave the director, designers, me and my ASM all cantaloupes. Mmmm...tasty melon:)
