Do-be-do-be-do...

Chapter six of Cinderella Tom is up!

My dad is all stressed out since he's lost his job and stuff, so he's checked himself into a hospital to chill out. Apparently he's doing well. He slept most of the day yesterday, which was just what he needed. =)

OK, I'll bite... what exactly is Doctor Who? The only thing I know about it is that it has robot-thingys that go around saying "exterminate." Kinda sad, huh?

Doctor Who... Wow, where to start? Um. The main character is the Doctor (Christopher Eccleston), who is something called a Time Lord and has got a time machine called the TARDIS. It's got the shape of an old Police Public Call Box from the 1960's, and it can take him anywhere. So he goes around in the multiverse, sometimes the people he meet run into trouble and then he helps them.

Of course it gets lonely zooming around in time and space, so the Doctor often has female, human assistants. In the 2005 series her name is Rose Tyler (Billie Piper), a young British woman. And they have a lot of wonderful adventures and they hold hands a lot.

The robot-thingys are called Daleks, and they are the Doctor's arch-nemesis. They are not very nice. Little space Nazis.

So now you know Doctor Who!

*is entraced by the shiny new chapter* Must...go...look. *wanders off*

What is Miss Saigon? I hear the title often, but know nothing about it. All I know is that it's a musical, but nothing more.

Miss Saigon is the story about an American soldier named Chris who meets a young Vietnamese girl named Kim in Saigon at the end of the Vietnam war. They instantly fall in love, they plan marriage and that Kim should come live with Chris in the States. But some things happen, and Chris is forced onto a helicopter to escape Saigon, leaving Kim behind. Then the story fast-forward three years. Kim supports herself as a dancer in Bangkok while Chris still has nightmares about leaving her in Vietnam. His friend John, who also was a G.I., is doing research for Chris to find her. When he finally does, they find that Kim has given birth to a boy after her lover left, and the child is Chris'. But Chris has re-married...

It's a very touching story, and it's got a lot of really great songs. So now you know!

OMG, Miss Saigon is TEH AWESOME. ^_^ When did you get interested in it, Ekwy? By the way, Araka, if you like Les Miserables, you'll probably like MSG, because it's by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonnberg, and it's also very tragic. And has Lea Salonga in it! *drools* My mum gave me a Miss Saigon poster last year for my birthday, not remembering what it's about, but only that it's by the Les Mis dudes. ^_^ So here I was, a little seventh-grader, and I'm like, "Hmm, this sounds interesting" so I went and rented the CD and the first song I heard was 'The Heat is On In Saigon'...if I had any scrap of naivety left then, it certainly disappeared once I listened to the MSG cast recording. xp

le gra go deo,
Eponine

I wished for the soundtrack for Christmas, mostly because I had no idea what it was about. And I got it, and I listened to it, and now I adore it. =)
