Rare Music

So much of the music being produced these days is utter crap. I don't know when modern society decided perky 14 year olds or strings of obscenities could replace a solid melody and good lyrics. While I initially heard it in an ipod ad, I really like the new Paul McCartney song. Bouncy, fun and happy - and he's playing a sweet little mandolin!

Any chance I could point you in the direction of Amy Winehouse? Think modern topics put to classic 40's, 50's, and 60's genres.

If she's interested, I could play some on the way to Illinois this weekend...

Since teens & tweens became the new "it" demographic for the music buisness. They are rabid consumers with a fair amount of disposeable income (she said without any trace of jealous wistfulness whatsoever *ahem*)

I don't know either. Then again,I don't pay much attention to that sort of stuff, and the music I listen to is mostly old Russian songs, some French, and a few newer Russian and random English songs that I happen to find on youtube and like. *shrug*
There is a really famous and celebrated Russian actor/singer/songwriter named Mihael Boyarski (I think his first name translates to Michael in English, and there are a bunch of different ways to spell his last name, Boyarskiy) who was asked by a reporter why he doesn't sing any of the newer songs, and he replied something to the effect of "I'll sing newer songs when I find newer songs worth singing."
In any case, if you ever decide you would like to try some Russian or French music, please feel free to ask. ^_^ Or movies...

Errr, sorry about the double-post. I have no idea how that happened. Especially 12 minutes apart, because I definitely did not retype and post it again.

I don't get it either. I don't even listen to regular radio anymore, because everything "now" is garbage. I listen to classical and jazz all day at work, and sometimes an oldies station, but mostly I listen to a local talk radio station.

Frankly, for new music, the country artists are the only ones producing anything worth listening to, and are the only ones having any fun with music.
