I suck at commenting on fics, but I just wanted to say that I'm so glad you posted a new chapter! Right around Christmas I read the whole thing so far from the beginning, and I have been waiting anxiously to read more. :) I'm really impressed with all your technical/sci-fi/political stuff, I feel like a lot of K/S fics forgo that and focus only on interpersonal relationships. (Which is great and all, but seems a far cry from watching a TOS episode.)
I think Kirk's right, the Klingons or someone acting on their behalf did take the Federation cortex. I'm very interested to see where this political sub plot goes. It makes a nice counter-point to the interpersonal relationships, and emotional side of the story.
Ciana and Kirk :( I wasn't looking forward to this bit, but you've written it extremely well, and Ciana is written so intelligently and sympathetically that it's impossible to dislike her. And really the fault lies with Spock and Kirk anyway, because if they hadn't made such a mess of things, then Ciana wouldn't even be in the picture.
Will read the next chapter soon, I think that's the one in 3 parts, so may need a hard hat and some climbing boots to scale it:)
This story is a brilliant as ever, I love it. Sorry I haven't had chance to catch up with it earlier.
*exhales in relief* I was SO WORRIED about Kirk/Lori; you have no idea. Nothing makes me hiss at the screen like K/Other or S/Other, and here I am serving up a massive dose of the former amongst all that copious angsting. But I'm so glad you were okay with it - and that you don't hate her! The more I write her, the more I like her (the TMP transporter scene makes me so sad now!) and I want other people to like her too! She really oughtn't to get in between the massive epic space husbandly love, but I reckon if I was working with Captain Awesome (sorry, Commodore Awesome), even knowing that he and Spock are the OTP of OTPs and that nothing in the universe could come between them for very long, I'd still fall head over heels in love with him.
Yeah, the next chapter's a monster, even by my standards. Bring food and shelter before attempting to hike through it :-)

Thank you so much for this! (And... did my fic just get compared to watching a TOS episode? Because there may be over-excitable happydancing...)
