Still More Apartment Woes

I'm thinking about moving. Frankly, I had planned on staying in this flat from day one (2006) 'til I finished my PhD and moved away to teach in some non-Arizona place. But ever since the new owners and their new management company started putting pressure on "improving" this place, it's become annoying to live here ( Read more... )

Nice to see someone who hates moving as much as I do.

Moving is evil. There is good stuff to come out of it, but it is evil.

I really really hope so, about things calming down. 'Cause it's driving me batty, as my LJ posts clearly exhibit. :( ARG.

Is it possible that you could have someone come and stay with your cats while you're away in May? Or maybe split the time between a couple people? Or do they all have animals of their own at home to attend to, as well?
This would be ideal, but I just don't know who. :( Most of them have cats to care for. But I'm still hoping. :(

I felt the same way about the place I just left. New management took over, and what do you know? The fridge & stove were replaced (they worked fine) for every apartment. Oh, we need to come in to look at the tub. Notes on the door monthly & sometimes weekly for some random thing they need to come inside for. I'm ok with the 6 month checks (change smoke alarm batteries, make sure nothing big has to be addressed, whatever), but when it's something every month, and frequently more than once a month, it's an issue. The last year I started saving notes so I knew how often they were coming in. Oh, and after I flipped shit, they made sure to give more notice, but once I had a note for that morning saying they were coming in. Um, no. They only require 24 hours notice here, and they couldn't even manage that.

Dude, they legally have to give 48 hours notice here if it isn't an emergency. But that's why they tend to give notice at 6pm Friday to come in on Monday. And the office is closed all weekend, so you can't ask questions. Grrrrr.

I'm hopoing it gets better.... ::fingers crossed::

Last week on Tuesday there was a note on our door that said starting 9:30 am Thursday, the manager, the maintenance supervisor, AND a city inspector would be showing up - no specific time, and they were all a-comin' in whether you were home or not and no you may not schedule a time for them to be there*, and if you thought they might not have a key to your apartment let them know NOW or else**, and please let them know if you have any pets so they would know to look out for said pets ( ... )
