So I'm still grading these ENG221* papers. The assignment was to compare and/or contrast one aspect of Beowulf to one aspect of either "The Dream of the Rood" or "The Wanderer

You'd think. But as soon as they start writing, they mess it up horribly. Partly it's because we're so casual in the way we speak. But partly it's carelessness, or, on the other side of the spectrum, freezing up because, oh gods, it's WRITING. I dunno. It's bizarre.

You'd be happy to teach my class, we are only 40 students in the generation and usually there are only 15 students in the more specific classes.

Dooood. That'd be awesome.
Once I look for real jobs (ie: after I have the PhD) I'll be looking for smaller schools without 100+ lectures.

Not as far as anyone has told *me*... In fact, I try to steer students away from such unhelpful judgments. But who listens to *me*? :)
