Summary: Danny remembered the face of every case they’d failed

After all these years Danny still hated losing them. He couldn’t remember every case they’d ever worked, but he could remember every one they’d ever failed. Anna Whitfield-the poor girl with lonely eyes-would be another face in his dreams. He rubbed his temple, feeling the sting of exhaustion. Sleep was a nice myth.
He almost ignored the knock of the door. Two in the morning visitors were never a good thing. He really couldn’t use anymore bad right then. Danny sighed, pulling himself off the couch and stumbling to the door.
“Martin?” he questioned, blinking tiredly at his friend. The agent lifted a DVD in one hand and a bag of popcorn in the other.
“Hey,” Fitzgerald greeted.
Martin walked over and stuck the DVD in, plopping down on the couch without explanation. Danny joined him. He felt the tension melt to the rumbling sounds of Star Wars. The opening scroll of New Hope rolled across the screen as the familiar theme played louder than the neighbors would appreciate. Later he would mock Martin’s geekiness. Later.
Neither pointed out that it was 2. Neither had too. They both knew why they were there- to chase away the memories.
