I've been to West Point, though not for any programs. Now I have to think really hard about whether I've been to Charleroi. It would've been on my way to somewhere ELSE...

I've been to Charleroi, it's about 30 miles down the river from Pittsburgh.... which is maybe why the other one is Pittsburgh's sister city?

Actually, they have (had?) a steel industry there, correct?

Charleroi is certainly "post industrial wasteland" in a rust-belt sort of way; I don't know if it was actually steel, but we also mostly hopped from the hotel near the train station straight to the conference center (built with some EU economic-uplift funding.)

Huh, I'm pretty sure I haven't been to that Charleroi. I may or may not have been to the one in Belgium. I doubt I have any way of figuring that out now. :-)

My girl scout troop went to West Point every year for scout competitions.

Charleroi (well, at least the airport) is more popular these days since it's been getting low-fare airline traffic (Ryanair IIRC).
