They do grow up fast

Took Thing1 to take his test for his learner's permit this morning.

He passed. I let him drive around parking lots for an hour afterward. He looked high when we were finished.

Dear God. Wasn't he in a stroller yesterday????

KInd of scary with the son behind the wheel, eh? My oldest got the learners in April, so I have until next April that I get to not ride with him.

It's freakin' surreal. As it is I'm rarely in the passenger seat of my Jeep, but to look over and see Thing1 behind the wheel? I keep waiting to wake up ;)

I don't know WHAT I'm going to do when the kid drives off alone.

I know! I keep wondering how the hell it happened so fast. Back when they were ickle, it seemed like they'd never get self-sufficient. Now? They're growing too damned fast. Sigh.
