Zac is too good for JJ Abrams. I would like for Zac to work with Paul Thomas Anderson or Robert Zemeckis.

I want him to work for Ava DuVernay, Ben Affleck, Nate Parker, David O. Russell, Alejandro G. Iñárritu... I wish Zac focused more on which directors, it's all about the director. He should know exactly which directors he wants to work with and should be doing everything to work with them.

Maybe he is/does, though. We all know he doesn't show his cards.

I don't think Zac would say publicly which directors he would like to work with. I think he just gave the interviewer a standard response.

"it's all about the director."

Yes, when the project gets that far. But fundamentally, it's all about the script. Then the director takes over and makes it happen. Good directors make it happen good, bad directors make it happen bad.

Also, I would like Zac to do a Netflix project.

"I'm not funny."

A bit of honest self-analysis. It's true. In all his movies, right back to HSM, Zac has played the straight man, providing a steady center and letting all the comedians bounce off of him. This is actually a very important role in any great comedy; if everyone is hilarious, all you have is chaos.

**Wearing skintight leather trousers and a ripped Harley-Davidson T-shirt, he is dinky (he has over time claimed to be anywhere between 5ft 8in and 5ft 10in), with a streak of platinum blond in his quiff and Muscle Beach biceps**

See? Not cool; not cool at all (sarcasm).

My idea of a date with Zac would involve a mountain bike and trails...

PS: I love that jacket.

Nice to read one longer interview during this promo. And I really hope he gets his "break" with a good role (director, genre, character) etc soon; he's really been punished for his HSM roots long enough.

Doing 7 R-rated comedies out of 8 consequent movies isn't avoiding typecasting if you ask me though, esp when several of those characters and themes are similar. But I hope this was a once off and he's actually trying to avoid it better going forward.

And moreover, I hope he leverages his successes better in the future. I feel there have been a few times in the past, where he should have gotten better projects/roles in genres he couldn't get in so far but somehow he/his team missed the opportunities.
