"Exclusive: Zendaya, the recording artist who nabbed a role in Spider-Man: Homecoming after years of being a Disney star, is landing another big-screen role opposite Zac Efron and Hugh Jackman in Fox’s musical The Greatest Showman On Earth. Zendaya is in negotiations to play Efron’s girlfriend in the movie. Michelle Williams is also in talks to star."
They are referring to Zac's role as if this is a done deal, so can we assume that Zac is definitely cast in this movie? This should keep him occupied for the rest of the year. If he is going to do some hoofing with Hugh Jackman he will need oodles of training and practice.
Wow. Baywatch and then Greatest Showman. That should pry him out of the raunchy comedy rut.
By the way, there's another Zac project lurking out there that hasn't gotten any attention, even here, although it was originally announced with a 2016 release date. I refer to his short role in The Disaster Artist, maybe now titled The Masterpiece. Apparently, the shooting is over and we're just waiting for a release date. Here's what someone speculated in the IMDb discussion list:
"I predict it premieres at TIFF or Telluride in the Fall and then the release date will get set depending on the reception, but I'm also going to say that we aren't going to see it in 2016."
This little throw-away project has the most impressive cast of any movie Zac has ever appeared in.
