The way the box office is going this should end up above $60m ww, I could even see it go above $70m. We have to see how all the South American will go but it's performing ok so far.
Regarding that new project... meh tbh.
They try comparing it to The Wolf of Wall Street (which I really like) and The Big Short (which I haven't seen yet but expect to like too) but tbf I have my doubts that this would end up similarly good

I think your story analysis is correct - there really isn't a story. A good drama needs a beginning, a middle, and an end. This story seems like a series of incidents without a conclusion; the protagonist doesn't triumph or crash and burn, he just quits.
The one bright note is that if Zac played the lead, he would mostly appear fully clothed. No doubt the powers that be would force some kind of shower scene or whatever, but Zac really needs to get away from displaying his body and get into displaying his acting abilities.
There would be plenty of opportunity to have Zac naked since the book features stories about sex and prostitutes. LeFevre eg mentioned in an article that he woke up in a Hong Kong hotel with a prostitute at his side not knowing how he got there. There might be more female nudity but I don't think Zac would be clothed all the time.
I can only talk about what's going on in Argentina but the distributor isn't doing any promotion (it comes out on February 18th and it doesn't appear in any theaters as 'coming soon' or anything) so I think it'll happen like WAYF (it lasted only one week here and it was the same distributor), it won't make a lot of money, specially when the critics here seem to hate Zac since TAM. But, on the other hand I've seen a lot of promo from Brazil (with special screenings and contests) and Mexico, so I guess that if DG takes money will be from those places.
On the other hand, I'm definetly not excited about that rumor, it will end up as you say on the develoment projects; I used to be very excited about that Josh Grisham project The Associate, I even read the book (which isn't as good but it could still be a nice movie) but it'll never happen :(
Yeah, even I have seen promo on twitter from Brazil & Mexico. Let's hope the box office is decent.
It's normal that a lot of development projects never get made (not only Zac's... it's a general thing), but some look very unlikely right from the beginning - like this one imo. I haven't read The Associate but I've heard that it's one of Grisham's weaker books. But we haven't heard about a screenwriter being hired for it so it's not looking particularly likely right now. However, idt he's aging out of the character anytime soon, so things might change in the future. But like with any of the development projects... the quality of the script and the director they might be able to attract are such key factors that you never know if and when something might happen.
I'm just loving the pictures from Vanity Fair Italia. I hope he does another photoshoot soon.
I’m hoping this is just a rumor. Wolf of Wall, Big Short, and Too Big to Fail covered Wall Street corruption already, and unless there is another angle to this story (beyond debauchery) there is no need for this project. I like the idea of him producing but this project is not worth his time
