'Paperboy' NYC Screening Responses

Feb 23, 2012 18:24

So February 13th there was a screening of The Paperboy in NYC. Two people discussed it, one on imdb and one on twitter. Both are kind of atypical, if that makes any sense once you read them. Overall, there are still really too few responses to get a broad idea of how it will go over so I don't really have any great insights as to what should be ( Read more... )

The IMDB comments are nice, I guess the twitter comments are nice too.
I just hope this movie gets a release date soon.

Anyone who has read the book knows there's going to be a good amount of sexual stuff in the movie.

It makes me smile when I hear people say, "Zac can act" or "Zac is perfect for this role" or things like that. Especially coming from someone who is so articulate, and not just liking Zac because he is hot.

& Me neither.

Yeah, I couldn't get a useful read on either reviewer, esp not the twitter guy. He was kind of weird.

I also think that esp the latter was expecting something totally different and might not be the typical audience for that movie either.

Hopefully we will get more feedback. The only thing I got from both of them is the fact that it is probably not mainstream (as expected, not that this is in any way negative) and not an easy topic/watch.

He embodied a spirit I readily related to and a specific time in the development of a life I think most males could relate to, just right on the precipice of being a man and walking thru the labyrinth of love and/or passion.

I will admit I am nervous for this. Mainly because I did not like Precious (doesn't help when you have to analyze the heck out of it for grad school classes), but like the one reviewer said I guess I need to put Precious and the fact that it's a Lee Daniels film out of my head. It is nice to see people responding positively to Zac and his performance though.
