Heather Scoville lives near Iowa Speedway and her family has season tickets so she and her friend went to participate as extras when filming was taking place there back in July. Her story got posted on about.com. Here are the parts about Zac:

I'm not surprised by the screaming fans since it sounds similar to other events that occurred while Zac was in DeKalb filming in July.

I wonder if the intensity of the lunatic fans phenomenon is a function of these locations' rural settings. Certainly there's never been any movie production at these sites. But DeKalb is a major university town only an hour from Chicago. Maybe it's an accident of reporting and the same thing happened in those little Louisiana towns but we just didn't hear about it.

I continue to be amazed that this kind of intensity continues five years after Zac burst onto the teen-idol scene. Our guy's got staying power. I haven't paid attention to other cases, does the madness usually last five years (without any sign of peaking)?

It's kind of funny but at the same time a little aweful. I can just hear my circle of producers and directors talking among themselves: "Yeah, he's a good kid, blah, blah, blah, but if you hire him be prepared to deal with crowd control on the sets and being besieged in the hotel; and don't take him along when you go out to dinner because you'll have to call the police to get out of the restaurant."

I think Zac definitely has staying power, but it can be both a blessing and a curse like you've stated with your example. People in Louisiana and small towns nearby are not as involved with the celebrity of people; they're more chill.

I kind of wonder if the insanity of the last time he was in Dekalb made him want to get a hotel and just stay in Chicago. He was spotted there shopping today apparently. Sure it wouldn't be the most convenient for filming, but for the sake of his sanity and being able to keep a low profile, Chicago seems like the better option lol. I just hope when he does get back to Dekalb that the fans are respectful and let them film in relative peace. It is a shame though that the actions of a few made Dekalb/Sycamore look bad

I don't know that he will stay in Chicago during shooting. It looks like he went to Illinois a couple of days early, maybe a little R&R before returning to movie making tomorrow. Seems like he was hanging out with a pal from his Summerland days.

We don't have a lot of information about this project, so I don't know what to expect. Looks like there will be more racing than I thought. Will we be able to see some candids from filming on Oct 8? I'd love to see him in racing suit again.
