What's with all the spam here lately on lj? I've had more the past several months than in all of the past several years totaled

I'm getting the same on my quilting blog, (Blogger) and I haven't updated that blog in months. Even more strange, the spam is showing up on fairly old posts ~ posts that it's unlikely anyone will look at.

I'm finding random comments in my journal as well. Not all of them seem to be spam, but none of them make any sense. I find it a little strange because I thought I had my journal set to accept comments only from friends.
