Recent updates to both my XP box and my OSX box have crippled my functionality identically, though it affects me much, much more on Windows. When I reboot either of these operating systems, my computer now cannot traverse the KVM and get a read on my widescreen monitor, so it defaults to a lower resolution and a 4:3 setting, which given my 16:10

I remember when we still used typewriters to write stuff "faster." Not kidding. I still have it-it's an Underwood.
Then we got a Mac.
Then, for some weird reason we got an IBM. Then a Compaq. Then an eMachine. Then a Dell. Now, after over fourteen years of the Blue Screen of Death and one useless Compaq laptop became sledgehammer fodder (literally-I smashed the fucker with a hammer) we moved back to Macs.
I still don't know why we switched. But I do know that I would make a horrible computer science teacher because I get frustrated trying to explain how to use a Mac to someone (my mother) who hasn't used one in so long.
Makes me long for the time when we still used the typewriter.
I think I'll write my novel on it. I just need a new ribbon (or loads of carbon paper).
