A state of emergency was issued for El Dorado County, with 220 structures reportedly destroyed and hundreds more threatened Sunday as South Lake Tahoe's worst fire in half a century consumed more than 2,000 acres and sent hundreds of people scurrying for safety.

Everyone ended up being ok. None of my families houses where taken (though my sister's came pretty close, she was evacuated). I know several of the people who did have homes burn. Its so frustrating being so far away and not being able to do something! The fire did however come within a quarter mile of where I'm getting married! (PS you are so invited if you want to send your address my way!)
