Knowing that the other girl would soon arrive, Robin began a few preparations, taking a container of gelato from the freezer to soften. The last night had been enjoyable, as she had spent most of the evening cooking with Clara. The result was that she was feeling slightly less upset about Leon's having left the school without telling her, and less like she had done something to have warranted it. As less of a result, but more of a by-product, she and her roommate now had a great deal of frozen fagioli soup and gelato in their freezers. Clara was used to cooking a lot of food at once, and Robin had no reason to argue ( ... )

Rita nodded, stepping inside. It was the first time she was able to get a good look at the girl. But this time was different. The circumstances were different for the both of them. Seeing the posture of the other girl, she figured she wouldn't overstay her welcome. "I won't be staying long," Rita said. But she never defined what 'long' meant to her.

Closing the door behind them, Robin shook her head, her smile a little more sincere this time. "You may stay as long as you like," she said, in response, pulling two plastic bowls from a bag next to the refrigerator, and two plastic spoons from a box on top of it. As college students, Clara and Robin could not afford actual dishes, nor did they have a place to put them. "Would you like some gelato?" she asked, motioning for Rita to take a seat at the table.

Taking the seat shown to her, she sat down. She nodded at the first statement. She didn't feel comfortable staying in the presence of someone she didn't know, unless it was for interviewing purposes.

"Sure, I don't mind." A simple and honest reply. The food wasn't the reason why Rita was visiting her. Although, Robin's taste in food did please Rita. "How are you fairing?"

As courtesy and social convention dictated, Robin has been about to answer simply, "Fine." However, she realized, that answer would not fool Rita. Although she did not know her well, Rita was well aware of what had just happened to her, and did not seem to be someone who reacted well to statements she knew to be untrue. This in mind, Robin's responded, "I am doing better. And yourself?" As she answers, she served the gelato, the light brown, creamy substance now soft enough to serve. Carefully, she scooped some into each bowl, and set one down in front of Rita, handing her a spoon, and returning the remainders of that container to the freezer before seating herself with her own bowl.
