Author’s note: One month later, I've posted! Yay! Sorry for some grammatical errors, English is not my primary language...also, I didn't double-check it. Sorry for being late...school's torturing me...then the break came, I've focused myself in the fandom and kept procrastinating about the fic. I've done Chapter eight twice. (Yes, I deleted the first Chappie Eight 'cause it's boring. XD) So...even though this is a boring chapter. Hope you enjoy it:)

Akira stopped running. Her knees felt weak, how could she forget her confession? How could she forget about him? Right now, the only thing she knows is she loves him more than anyone. It is still a mystery why she fell for him deeply and intensely. Her tears were still rolling down onto her rosy cheeks; she couldn’t stop herself from crying. She didn’t expect that it will be painful.
All she heard was her bawling. She knelt and sobbed harder. The pain in her heart was unceasing. It wouldn’t be healed easily. That time, she didn’t heard footsteps running from the stairs. It was the rushing Yabu who tried to chase her. Yabu saw her, thinking how successful he was for finding her.
Yabu didn’t call her attention-he hurriedly ran towards her and hugged her.
Akira’s eyes widened, her tears stopped falling as well because of astonishment. She had this feeling since what had happened in the infirmary-she felt Yabu’s intimacy which wasn’t only as a friend. She wanted to speak, but she couldn’t.
“It’s okay not to speak for a while…” Yabu said as he hugged her tightly, “Just depend on me.”
Akira didn’t hug him back, yet she started to sob again. She felt that she is starting to be confused, and she didn’t want that feeling at all.
Hikaru was still in the classroom. He wanted to claim those words back. He wanted to go back in time and tell his true feelings to Akira. But those selfish thoughts won’t give him benefits for sure. It will be hard for them if he will tell Akira his real feelings. He didn’t want to be a hindrance on Akira’s future.
Few days later, they became more distant. Hikaru talks to Akira casually yet they never talked about what had happened that time. Akira talks to Yabu when they are only in the classroom; it wasn’t the same as before. As for Yabu, he didn’t want to be mad at his best friend, but for him, it was better to be distant with his best friend for a while due to various reasons.
It was after school; Akira cancelled her cram school and immediately lied on her bed, still wearing her school uniform. The maids were gossiping about what had happened that day-they saw Akira’s swollen eyes and Hikaru’s puzzlement.
“Ne, what do you think happened to Akira-sama?”
“I don’t know. Since that day…”
“Ne, that time, Hikaru-kun, too…”
“They’re acting strange, ne?”
Hikaru heard everything. When the maids noticed this, they started to work again. Hikaru clicked his tongue, sign of annoyance.
He passed on Akira’s room. He really wanted to talk to her but he didn’t have the guts to do so. He sighed and went inside his room as well.
Akira had a short nap. But that nap was broken by a phone call from Megumi. She answered it and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Ne, can the four of us go out tonight?” Megumi asked.
Akira knows that Megumi didn’t have the idea of what was happening between the three of them. Megumi heard Akira’s sigh on the phone and said, “Not now. I’m tired.”
“A-Ah, I see. Then, see you next time,” Megumi hanged up.
Megumi was looking at Yabu that time. He was sitting at the dining room, thinking. Megumi knows him-he is obviously worried about something. She wanted to help, but she didn’t know how until she had an idea of visiting Akira instead.
She grabbed Yabu and went outside, waiting for a taxi.
“Wait, what are you gonna do?” Yabu asked who was shocked about what Megumi said.
“We’re going somewhere,” Megumi smirked.
“Where?” Yabu asked. Megumi ignored his repeating questions and stopped a taxi.
They stopped in a familiar mansion, it was Nishihara residence. Yabu was backing up but Megumi insisted and phoned Akira that they were outside the mansion. Akira asked her maids to let them in. As she went downstairs, she smiled and said, “Good Evening.”
She was avoiding an eye-contact with Yabu. Since what had happened, she didn’t know how to approach him.
“Ne, where’s Hikaru?” asked Megumi.
“I…I think he’s in his room,” Akira said.
“Damn him, that’s the problem of Hikaru. He didn’t have a cellular phone since birth that’s why you can’t contact him, ne~” said Megumi.
“Ah, is that so?” asked Akira, “Then, I’ll ask him to go here, ne? Please sit for a while.”
While waiting, the maids were serving them. Shyly, they smiled. Megumi whispered to Yabu, “Ne, this mansion is so big. Then there are so many servants and-”
“There’s nothing to get excited about, Megumi,” Yabu said as he smacked her. Megumi smirked at Yabu, saying, “Ne, Akira-chan really looks cute in her school uniform, ne?”
“Y-Yeah…” said Yabu.
Akira doubts to knock on Hikaru’s room. She had several deep breathings and when she had the courage, she knocked and waited for Hikaru to come out.
“Ah,” said the both of them. They still have that distance to each other because of what had happened.
“Uhm…M-Megumi-chan and Yabu-kun are downstairs. They wanted to see you,” Akira said.
“I see. I-I’ll go after you…” Hikaru said.
“Okay, we’ll wait for you downstairs, ne?” Akira said and walked away.
Akira, together with Megumi and Yabu, waited downstairs for Hikaru. As he arrived, the atmosphere became more awkward and Megumi noticed this.
“N-Ne…I really feel like…going out…the sky is starry tonight, ne?” Megumi said, half-laughing with a bit of nervousness. The other three looked at each other awkwardly.
“T-Then…let’s go…I’m going to call for the driver,” Akira said.
“No, I’ll be the one to do it,” Hikaru said as he went out to call for the driver.
It was indeed a starry night. The four of them went to a place where Megumi wanted to go-it was Hikaru, Yabu, and Megumi’s school during their elementary years.
“This is so nostalgic,” Megumi said.
“If you feel embarrassed, why are you going here in the first place?” Hikaru said. Megumi went to the playground and swung in the playground swing.
“So you’ve met each other in this little school, ne?” Akira said as she sat on the vacant swing beside Megumi.
“Yeah,” Megumi said as she stopped swinging and sighed, “Childhood days are really good, ne~ not having such problems about Geometry, Algebra, and Chemistry. All you know is to count, draw, and spell words.”
“You’re right,” Akira smiled as she began to swing.
“Ah~ this feels good, ne~” Megumi said as she swung again and again.
The two boys were looking at the two without talking. Yabu broke the silence and said, “We have not talked about this but…about what had happened…I’m sorry.”
Hikaru took a glance on Akira and said, “You really like her, right?”
“But it won’t work out. Since she likes someone else,” Yabu said as he looked at Hikaru.
“Just like I thought, I only exist to be her friend, no more, no less. Hikaru, take care of her,” he said.
“Eh?” Hikaru uttered.
“Do I sound stupid? For me, I am not. This is weird but…I feel that it is better for me to give up an important person if she loves somebody else. That’s why…take care of her. She needs your care more than mine and anyone else,” said Yabu.
Hikaru didn’t say anything. Smiling, he looked at Akira and thought how fate is unpredictable. People’s perceptions are sometimes easily changed. Somehow, he felt that a big thorn was removed from his cold heart. And the wound from that thorn was healed by a certain person-Akira.
Yabu got Megumi’s hand and said, “Let’s go home.”
“Eh?” Megumi said, blushing. Yabu asked the driver to leave first for Akira wanted to walk home. After the driver left, Yabu winked at Hikaru and walked away with Megumi.
Akira went closer to Hikaru and asked, “Ne, did the two of you have a fight?”
Hikaru smiled and said, “It’s a man-to-man talk. It’s none of your business.”
Akira tried to think what have they talked about but Hikaru didn’t say it.
Megumi was walking with Yabu, having such heartbeat. He was holding Megumi’s hand, yet he was quiet. Megumi wanted to broke the silence. But she felt that this kind of atmosphere must not be broken.
‘It’s okay… even if it’s only for tonight…’ Megumi thought while smiling and looking at her hand which was held by Yabu.
But Yabu had a different feeling; he felt that he did the right thing for Akira’s sake. Yet still, he feels the pain of his masochistic love. It’s painful, yet he feels that he’s happy because for sure, Akira will be happy.
Akira and Hikaru walked home-it was few blocks away from the three’s elementary school. Akira was still wearing her school uniform which made Hikaru chuckled a bit.
“What’s wrong?” Akira asked.
“It’s already evening, yet you’re still wearing your uniform. You pretty love your school uniform, huh?” he said.
“I-It’s not that…” Akira said.
“A daughter of a famous business tycoon in Japan should not act that way. Am I right, Akira-sama?” Hikaru teased.
“Shut up, I said don’t call me like that,” Akira pouted, yet trying not to smile.
“Are~ I can see two high school sweethearts walking in the middle of the night~” somebody said. They looked back and saw four gangster-looking people. No, they are really thugs.
“Ah, you’re a bit cute. Don’t you want to hang out with us?” the other one said as he went closer to Akira and held her hand.
“Hey, I guess this is not the right time,” Hikaru said as he pushed that person a bit. He held Akira’s hand and said, “Let’s go.”
“Hey,” he said and suddenly punched Hikaru, “Don’t act cool in front of a girl!”
Hikaru felt the heaviness of his knuckles. He felt that his mouth was bleeding-he spit but he still felt that his mouth was bleeding. He glared at the gangster and punched him back. That punch was strong enough to make him fell on the ground. Afterwards, he grabbed Akira’s hand and ran away.
The gangsters chased them. Hikaru and Akira continued running as fast as they could and ended up in an abandoned warehouse. Seeing their shadows, Hikaru and Akira panicked. They tried to hide, but it was too late.
“We’ve found you, little brat,” the gangster said.
“That punch of yours wasn’t that bad…but it really hurts like hell!” the other yelled.
“Akira, run…” Hikaru said.
“But-”
“I said, run!” Hikaru yelled. Akira tried to escape but she was caught by the other one.
“Let me go!” Akira yelled. The other beat Hikaru which made him a bit weak.
“Tsk. Let’s go…I’m starting to get bored with this punk,” the other one said and walked out. The one who was holding Akira pushed her and left the two of them inside that warehouse.
Akira went closer to him and asked, “Are you okay?”
Hikaru sat up and said, “Do you think I am? Damn, my mouth is bleeding.”
He tried to wipe the blood using his bare right hand and said, “By the way, about what had happened before…I’m sorry.”
“Eh?” Akira said.
“I really do not know how to react on such confessions from someone who is…”
“Who is…?” Akira asked.
“It’s nothing,” Hikaru said. Akira sighed and got her handkerchief. She wiped Hikaru’s bleeding mouth and said, “It’s okay…I’m sorry for being careless, too.”
Hikaru held Akira’s hand and said, “It’s not carelessness, Akira. You were just…honest, right?”
“Honest?”
Hikaru nodded and looked at her, still holding her hand, “How I wish I could be as honest as you...when it comes to those sorts of things.”
Akira smiled and held his hand back, saying, “You can be honest now, Hikaru-kun.”
Hikaru broke his eye contact at her for a while and chuckled a bit, saying, “You’re a bit stupid, ne?”
“Eh, why?” Akira said. Hikaru smiled and said, “Then I’ll be honest with you.”
He held Akira’s cheeks and pressed his wet lips unto hers. Akira’s eyes widened and felt that her whole body stiffened. Her mind wanted to stop, but her heard didn’t want to. That was why, she followed what she felt and kissed him back.
“Ah, it hurts!” he whined, his mouth still hurt because of that punch from one of those thugs.
“Sorry,” Akira smiled a bit.
There was a moment of silence was they were sitting together inside that dark, abandoned warehouse. Yes, the warehouse is cold…but they can feel each other’s warmth because of affection. Akira leaned onto Hikaru’s shoulder and said, “Is it okay…to stay here for a while?”
Hikaru didn’t say anything. Running his fingers through her silky hair, he kissed her forehead. He didn’t feel the pain of his bruises anymore because he felt at ease being with Akira the whole night.
He knows his limits…he knows that that night, he was beyond his limits, staying with her, hugging and kissing her, surely showed how love prospers like an innocent child…but as it grows, different circumstances show.
As his love was shown and started, he knows that this is just the start of defying the goddess of fate. That time, he prayed, wishing that the night won’t end…he wanted to be with her forever.
