It was fun trying to write real first-time sex, with elements of innocence and comedy. (Because, lets face it, it is kind of funny.)

And they are completely in love, pretty much deranged with love.

Of course, if you want him to have lots and lots of grandchildren who think he was a naval hero, they might not want to stop the babies anyway. How many kids will they have? Four? Six? Four is quite enough for me, but I do like them to be in even numbers. But back then, six or eight or even ten would not have been out of the ordinary.
