Oh, I am right there with you! And like a lot of folks, I still cling to some of the old stuff. I have a debit card, but I also carry cash, and most of my everyday purchases are done with cash. I buy gas for the truck with the card, but one must always remember to write it down... we haven't gone totally modern where we track the balance on-line.
Had an e-mail from my cousin a few days ago... all about terms and sayings of a generation or two ago. Things like "foot feed" for the accelerator pedal, fender skirts, steering knobs, and the like. Mostly automotive type stuff. Things I remember, but I find that even those a few years younger have no idea about. Dave
Our car has both automatic and stick options. I use auto when I drive. Husband prefers stick. I can drive a stick, did for years, but I read recently that they are going to stop making them. Many people have never driven that way.
I am one of those people who gets into a financial muddle unless I can see it all in real time. Paper checks are not a good fit for me. And of course now I have two kids with their own bank accounts. Convenient to slide money from mine to theirs!
My truck that I've had for the past couple of years is automatic. In fact, a couple of months ago I had it at the dealer for servicing. While there I happened to look at a newer version of it in the show room. The everpresent salesman mentioned that it was one of a very few available with a stick shift. I like driving a stick, but I don't miss it. If the next vehicle I have has a manual transmission I won't complain, however. Dave
I've worked places with that sort of software so that IT don't need to physically always come out but hugely impressed your son can do that off the cuff! Hope he's settling in well in Buffalo.
He seems to be settling in. So far he has gone for a long bike ride, discovered where to get sushi, stayed up reading Cicero, and stayed up drinking. Sounds about right...
As for the computer stuff, he just seems to know these things. Very odd, none of the rest of us do!
